Project Cosplayers in BRAWL!
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008Project Cosplay at Nisei Week 2008!
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008Nisei week is a cultural event that has been held every year in Downtown Los Angeles for the last 68 years. In the last few, they have added cosplay to the list of events including Kendo, Martial Arts and Sumo demonstrations. At 5pm on the Sunday of the week long event there is also a parade that runs around the expanse of Little Tokyo which also happily invites cosplayers to join and greet the crowd.
Project Cosplayers JoEllen, Diana, Vani and Jim were in attendence to support their fellow LA cosplayers and (in JoEllen’s case) eat every Japanese delicacy she came into contact with.
This year’s cosplay contest also marked the first time Project Cosplayer Jim competed as a solo entry. He brought his crowd pleasingly creepy 12th Division Captain Kurotsuchi Mayuri and won over not only the atendees but snagged a Judges award as well! Congradulations Jim!
While JoEllen and Vani kept morale up against the heat with shaved ice and cool drinks, Diana debued a new costume- Hakufu from Ikkitousen. It was based on a figure from one of the plethora of original Ikkitousen toys floating around.
Project Cosplay had a wonderful time and highly reccomend this event for cosplayers looking to have a great time outside of a convention setting! Don’t forget to check out our photo coverage and stay tuned for video from Nise i Week 2008 on our youtube!
‘Till next time!
A little back stage time at AX Masquerade 2008!
Thursday, July 10th, 2008Hey everyone!
Diana here with a quick report on the AX 2008 Masquerade. As always, it was a wonderful event and an honor to be invited back. JoEllen and I were joined this year by our friend Bill, an incredible props and armor master from Atlanta. It was an even more incredible honor for us to not only be joined again by Mr.Dosai, prevailing cosplay connoisseur and Cospa Magazine contributor, but also by the lovely all cosplaying, all blogging, all singing Miss Shoko ‘ Shokotan’ Nakagawa. She was a pleasure to judge with and very passionate about cosplay and being with us at Anime Expo.

Coming soon!!!! A full list of this years AX Masquerade winners!

A little look at the backstage life…
Monday, May 19th, 2008Hey everyone!
Diana here. JoEllen and I just got back from Anime Mexicali in Mexicali, Mexico and waiting for me when I got back was the upload of an interview I did with my dear friend and organizer of the SoCal cosplay gathering, Ms. Naru for The Girls Entertainment Network. It talks about how I judge and the things I personally look for durring a masquerade. Please give it a look and drop a comment to tell us what you think!
You can check out the interview here!

This week for the Project Cosplay Team
Saturday, April 26th, 2008Hey everyone! This is Diana and JoEllen just giving you a heads up on what we were up to this week.
Our week was a pretty active one! The con season is approaching rapidly so JoEllen’s commission business (www.firefly-path.net) is bursting. She finished a beautiful pair of wings and fitted a dress for a customer and began work on a Card Captor Sakura accessory order.
We wandered around in downtown LA and Diana left a sketch for a new costume she designed at store. The next day we had to go back and pick it up. Fortunately it was still there!
Diana finished two new Lolita inspired dresses and we took some pictures of them around her house before trying to catch the free Flight of Conchords show at Amoeba Records in Hollywood but we got there so late that we missed out on getting in. So we ate food instead.
Also it looks like we are Mexico bound! JoEllen was invited to Anime Mexicali in Mexicali, Mexico! It should be lots of fun!
All in all it was a pretty productive week. Also, be sure to check out Diana’s contributions to the DC based blog radarnois. You can find her contributions under the name m4np and in the section “Fashion Confessions”- short blurbs about the things in fashion we do but aren’t terribly eager to admit to.
See you next week!
