PMX - Pacific Media Expo 2007
Year 4 and going strong, Pacific Media Expo is a great way to get a taste of Asian pop culture. This year the Project Cosplay team were given an all access pass to meet, greet, and interview the bands, designers, and cosplay guests. It was an amazing opportunity from a convention that is pushing the envelope for all facets of Asian culture and types of Asian media.

A highlight of our 3 day coverage was access to the Lolita Brunch hosted by Angelic Pretty designers Maki and Asuka and the lovely people from Cosplay Oneesan and a visit to the exceptionally popular Angelic Pretty boutique and formal introduction to the adorable designers. The boutique offered a large sampling of the Angelic Pretty clothing and accessory line as well and was pleasantly inviting. It also smelled just like strawberries!
Saturday the Project Cosplay team was in for a real treat when we got to sit down and have some one on one interview time with Peter S. Beagle- creator and author of the legendary classic “The Last Unicorn”. You can support his battle for rights to his DVD at http://www.conlanpress.com/html/zaentz_h.html .
Cosplayer Hoshikage, best known for her ‘Trance Freya’ cosplay that swept PMX 2005, held a dynamic panel about her groundbreaking work with LED wire. You can check out an interview with her on our PMX coverage!
Lastly, Project Cosplay was invited to all the amazing J-rock concerts held this year. Thee Out Mods, D&L, and Headphones President to name a few.
All in all, it was a great event! We can’t wait to see what they have next year!
